Madison, WI – For a company that just launched in 2002 with only 10 employees, Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) was thinking long-term when it built its new building on Silicon Prairie Parkway, just south of Mineral Point Road in Verona.

Employees of the company – which now boasts 290 employees - started moving into the new 120,000-square-foot building in the Fall. X-ES worked with Focus on Energy’s Business Incentive Program to incorporate equipment and practices that reduce energy waste in the facility, like network lighting controls and energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment.

“The process was very easy. Our electrician (Ace Electric) and builder (Newcomb Construction) took care of the entire effort,” said X-ES Senior Program Manager, Wes Moreau. “I only had to review the paperwork. After construction was completed, the confirmation effort with Focus on Energy was also very easy. The team from Focus on Energy conducted an onsite review to confirm what was on the application was in the building. The documentation was very straightforward. I have been really happy with the Focus on Energy effort throughout the entire building process.”

The energy-efficient choices X-ES made in building their new headquarters earned the company an incentive check from Focus on Energy for nearly $47,000. Those choices will also save X-ES money for years to come and lead to a sizeable reduction in energy waste. The estimated electricity savings over the life of the equipment is more than eight million kilowatt hours, which is enough to power 647 homes for a year, and the estimated lifecycle natural gas savings equates to almost 49,000 gallons of gasoline.

X-ES makes custom, heavy-duty computers and parts for manufacturers and the military. The company is an electric customer of Alliant Energy and a gas customer of Madison Gas & Electric. Those are two of the 107 utilities across Wisconsin that fund the Focus on Energy program.

The most recent annual evaluation report found every $1 invested in Focus on Energy programs creates $5.93 in benefits for Wisconsin, including economic benefits, reduced energy costs, and reduced pollution.
