Focus on Energy, Wisconsin utilities’ statewide program for energy efficiency and renewable energy, recently honored Merkel Company Inc. with a 2015 Focus on Energy Trade Ally Recognition Award for displaying an outstanding commitment to the energy efficiency practice. Merkel Company is based in Marshfield.

Merkel Electric first opened its doors in 1919 with a project involving the construction of a power line in Marshfield.

Merkel Company originally started participating in Focus on Energy in 2007, as an approach to sell lighting projects. Currently Merkel Company’s focus is on electrical work for new facilities, design of new electrical systems, street and parking lot lighting, and traffic signal installation and repairs.
