Focus on Energy Congratulates WMC Award Winners

Madison, Wis. – Eight FOCUS ON ENERGY® participants were recently recognized for their efforts to incorporate environmental protections in their business practices.

They were among the nine companies acknowledged with the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award from Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) at an awards ceremony in Madison on Tuesday.

The winners, which are also Focus on Energy program participants, include Outlook Group, Georgia Pacific Green Bay Broadway Mill, Bergstrom Automotive, Linetec, Waupaca Foundry, ITU Absorbtech, Masters Gallery Foods and Menasha Packaging Hartford Plant. In addition, three of the winners – Georgia Pacific, Waupaca Foundry and Menasha Packaging – all participated in Focus on Energy’s Strategic Energy Management program for customers whose operations require using large amounts of energy.

Combined, the eight winning organizations have saved 18,692,158 kilowatt hours of electricity and 351,751 therms of natural gas through Focus on Energy projects. That’s enough energy to power more than 1,800 homes for a full year.

This is the 30th year WMC has presented the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award to groups that take an innovative approaches to environmental practices, going beyond regulatory requirements.

A recent third-party evaluation noted every $1 in Focus on Energy funding generates more than $5 in benefits for Wisconsin, including economic benefits, reduced energy costs and reduced pollution.
